Spring Creek is located in Gordonsville, near Charlottesville. It was designed by Ed Carton, a former Tom Fazio associate, and opened in 2006. From the rear tees, the course plays to 7081 yards, with a handicap rating of 74.1, and a slope of 137. It's simply a phenomenal course, one of the best I have ever seen. . It reminds me of the beautiful course at Royal New Kent, but is more wooded. The greens were exceptionally fast and true, and were well guarded by pure white sand bunkers. Spring Creek has the look and feel of a course worth twice the admission price, and almost every hole is isolated by the forest with only two parallel holes on the course.

I did have some issues with the greens that were flat out non-receptive to a lot of shots. Bad shots were over-rewarded and pretty good shots were punished too often. The course plays very firm and fast and in the end I loved some aspects and didn't care too much for some others.

Might as well rate golf courses on the internet, since there's a blizzard outside today. Spring Creek is an excellent golf course, the best in our area, rates are fairly reasonable, conditions are always good, and it's a challenging, but fair course to play, especially like the finishing holes, beautiful setting.

Has to be one of the best courses in the state. Immaculate conditions, challenging course, but not too penal, beautiful setting, and the greens fees are reasonable for this quality of course. If it were in the NOVA area, it would be twice the price. Beautiful to play in the Fall.
