Southwind is a relatively new course, about 10 minutes west of the Atlanta Airport off Fulton Parkway. Parkland style of layout with good elevation change to some of the holes. Water in play on 11 holes, there's four sets of tees from 4,800 yards to 6,500 yards, we played from the Blue tees at 6,120 yards, 69.4/131, and it was challenging. The course is routed through a residential community that's stalled a bit, and is just growing in, and a little rough around the edges. Reasonably priced to play now, but as it matures the greens fees will go higher. Really fun course to play with the changes in elevation, and natural corridors along the holes for the most part until the development builds out.

For a Saturday morning, this place was not busy at all. In fact I was able to go out as a single and played through a couple of groups and finished my round in under 3.5 hours. The course is fairly new. On the downside, they havent built a driving range yet, but they do have a practice putting green. Be advised the course has several blind shots so I'd recommend using a golf gps. While the course isnt that long from the tips (about 6500 yards) it has some difficult holes. This is a course you definitely have to play a couple of times to know where not to hit it. You really dont need to pull out the driver that often....maybe on the par 5's and a couple of the par 4's. The par 3's are probably the weakness of the course....the longest is only 171 yards but even that hole was playing short at 150 the day I played. No cart girl riding around on the course to serve drinks, but they do have water available on each side. This course condition I'd rate probably about 8 out of 10. The greens were in perfect shape, but a little on the hard side for the approach shots. Fairways were in good shape and tee boxes were excellent. All in all this is a great value for Atlanta golf. Its not that far from Atlanta....maybe about a 20 minute drive or so.
