South Padre Island Golf Club is just north of Laguna Vista on Santa Isabella Blvd on the mainland side of S. Padre Island. The golf course is routed linkstyle over relatively flat land through a residential development, and has a few holes along Laguna Madre Bay.The course was designed by Chris Cole and Stephen Caplinger and has an open feel to it, generally very windy, and has water in play on 8 holes. One of the better, if not the best courses in the Valley open to the public. It's 6900 yards from the back tees, 130 slope, and it's expensive, although they do have off peak rates. Nice setting, especially along the Bay.

The grass was awesome and the course played very well. There were some rough spots here, but it is a fairly new course. It will fill in over time. I actually shot a better score here because the ball actually had some roll when it landed. This course played 6291 yards from my tees. The staff here was very nice and I took a driver lesson while here. Their range and carts were in great shape and the carts were GPS equipped, but I failed to pay the fee. I now know that I need the gps when I play if it’s available. I had real trouble with distances the entire week. I guess I’m not used to seeing all green, or I’m too used to playing the same four or five courses where I know where

Always play here when we come down for a week at the beach. It's definitely the best in the area, but difficult, expecially when the wind's blowing. The views across the Bay are incredible, conditions always good, just a little slow play this year, but I complain about that everywhere.
