Sotogrande is on the in the province of Cádiz in the Costa del sol, Spain, 20 km north of San Roque. The golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, and is only about 3 km from Valderrama, so combining both courses in one visit to the area simple. While I'd heard of Valderrama, from the Ryder Cup, wasn't aware of Sotogrande, but it's widely regarded as one of the top course in Eurpoe. It's was a beautiful parkland style of course with nice views out over the Mediterranean, and fairways lined with pine trees, eucalyptus, cork trees; and lakes. Very scenic and enjoyable golf course, except when you get to the massive greens with a good amount of undulation and very fast. As you would expect with RTJ Sr, there's a good amount of his trademarked fingered bunkers through the landing areas, and greenside. Ratings are: White 6224 m VC 72.5 Slope 132, with three other sets of tees, a definite must play.
