Skamania Lodge is a full resort with a golf course overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, about 40 minutes east of Portland. The course was designed by Bunny Mason, and opened in 1993. True northwest type course, heavy Douglas Fir lined fairways, par 70, 6000 yards, 126 slope, leave the driver at home, this course requires accuracy off the tee, and around the greens. Winding through the trees, most of the fairways are tight and the conditioning is very good and the greens roll fast. The front nine is hilly and rugged, with a few ponds coming into play, and the back nine has some great views of the Gorge, especially on holes 13 and 16. The Gorge is always windy and impacts play on the back side more than the front which is more sheltered. Beautiful scenery, and well conditioned golf course,

We played Skamania yesterday on a glorious afternoon, Whilte it's a resort course, with a great lodge, we didn't stay here, but had lunch in the lucnh before the round, excellent food and views. Be sure you try the Lodge as well as the golf course. This is a short course, only 6100 yards from the tips, but you have to be deadly accurate. Literally 5-10 yards off the fairway, and you are in dark, old growth forrests. The greens are fantastic year around, and I am usually all alone out there. Fun to play, gorgeous to look around at the sights, and they always have great deals to play. Enjoy!!!
