Played this course in August 2008 and was surprised how great of shape is was in for this time of the year. This is a very good course, probably one of the best Arnold Palmer designs I have played. From the tips its 7578 with a slope of 139 and rating of 76.3 so can be as long as you want. It's in La Quinta so you have great views, and they now play the Bob Hope Classic here. It opened in early 2005, and is located at the base of Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains. The course is well conditioned throughout the course, with good guest service. Not a lot of bunkering, unless you consider the waste areas but there are some great risk/reward type holes, with water in play, so course management is at a premium. From the pro tee, it can play to 7553 yards, slope of 139, but there's five additional sets. There are a few forced carries, but off the tee, the sand and desert waste areas create more target type landing zones. Challenging course, one of the better in the area.

Very long golf course, but there's 6 sets of tees down to 4,884 yards, extremely well bunkered, deep and big, well conditioned, pace of play was a little slow.Definitely a second shot course, accuracy with the short game is required to score well.

Excellent course, conditions, service, and at very reasonable rates for pre-season. Challenging layout, will test every part of your game. Only negative was not seeing the cart girl but once.
