Two 18 hole courses in the heart of the wine country in Napa, full-line golf and spa resort, both courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. in the mid 1960's, though the North was originally designed by Johnny Dawson in 1955. The North plays to almost 6900 yards from the tips with a 131 slope, while the South is a little shorter at 6600 yards and a 127 slope. The courses are well regarded nationally and have been venues for the regular and senior PGA Tour events. The South course is a little more of rolling hills and sloping fairways than the North. The greens are fairly large, but well guarded by a lot of large, deep and sculptured bunkers, and water on just a few holes. The North is a little more resort style, flat and somewhat forgiving off the tee, fairly straightforward. Both are fun, challenging, and interesting to play, and are very well maintained.

Things have improved since Johnny Miller got involved here, the North course is the one to play. All in all, a bit overrated and overpriced, head down to Sonoma Nationall for a better golf course

I like what the new ownershp is doing at Silverado, having Johnny Miller involved seems to be a positive for the course so far!

Heard today that Johnny Miller was buying Silverado. I hope he does something with it. I played there last week for the first time, and found it to be utterly forgettable. I would expand on that remark, except I can't actually remember any of the holes.
