Siena is in a residential community in Summerlin, off the I-215 at Flamingo, about 30 minutes from the Strip. From the back tees it's 6,843 yards, 131 slope and was designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley. Siena doesn't get all the hype of some of the other courses in Vegas, but it's a good solid layout, probably a little cheaper than the others, nicely conditioned with good guest service. The layout is challenging, not too long, and interesting holes with some nice views of the valley and the mountains as a backdrop. Good variety to the hole design, mostly straightforward, with a few doglegs. Would definitely recommend.

Siena is a good introduction to playing a golf course with fairways, rough, and then miles of sand to hit into WITHOUT the usual $125+ rates all hourse of the day. The clubhouse/restaurant were massive and appeared first-rate from what I saw. I was really happy in hindsight that they sent me off #10 tee to start the day. Making the usual 8 & 9 the finishing holes is MUCH better than the alternative. I would have been quite disappointed with the short, par-3 17th and the bland par-4 18th serving as my grand finale for the day. One beef I had with the course was the yardage markers out there. Either the dry air makes for a huge bonus in yardage or the club is trying to give their senior members an ego boost when they play. I consistently hit my irons 10-20 yards past the usual yardages for the first 4 or 5 holes (many of which are uphill approaches, mind you) before scaling things down by at least a club for the back nine. Putting was attrocious on the fastest greens I've played all year. Overall 86 in unbearably hot weather (I think I heard it was 105 Wednesday)... I'll take it.

If you like wide open courses you’ll love Siena. This course had some of the widest fairways I’ve ever seen. It was very reminiscent of other layouts that are surrounded by housing such as Silverstone and Alliante though many of the houses were pretty modest by Vegas standards. Still, given all the choices in Vegas there is little that separates Siena from the rest of the pack. It doesn’t have the major elevation changes like a Rio Secco or Anthem, nor does it have the scenery like Bear’s Best. The condition of the course was satisfactory, but there were parts of almost each green where the grass was sparse or totally gone. In some ways it reminded me of Legacy in that it seems to have the potential to be much more than it is. If you are wild off the tee though, Siena is an OK course, but it’s unlikely I’ll return.

All around solid golf course in a residential development, not one of your high fliers in Vegas, but nonetheless, a very good course. Interesting and varied layout, conditioning was good, rates were lower than some of the others in town, would recommend to anyone, even the higher handicappers.
