Shenandoah Valley is 8 miles north of Front Royal, and a great getaway from DC to the country, maybe an hour west and provides a great golf course, and views of Skyline Drive, the Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountain ranges. 27 holes here, designed by Raymond Loving, and the rates are very reasonable. It's parkland type of golf with tree lined fairways with some hilly holes. The Red and White nines are very walkable, but the Blue nine is a difficult track and tough to walk due to the hills. Every hole is fairly straighforward with well defined fairways, very well maintained, and good customer service. It's never real crowded, maybe a bit on the weekends, and is a pleasure to get out of town to play here.

Shenandoah Valley has 27 holes and is an older style layout. Heavily treed and has some pretty good elevation changes. There is not one hole that will wow you but the scenery is nice and it is very quiet. Overall, a good solid choice that will not break the bank.
