Long a main stay in Jackson County, Ella Sharp opened in 1926. Ella W. Sharp bequeathed her farm to the City to be developed as a park and maintained through a trust fund from her estate. Winiford C. Trout designed the golf course and surrounding park lands. At 5,899 yards (68.4/115) the course is not long and is a good test for mid to high handicappers. Operated by the City of Jackson, the rates tend to be low.
Minimal bunkering and water allows one to concentrate on the shot rather than the hazard. Once on the medium to small size greens, the moderate speed and friendly contours will prevent 3-putt disasters.
From I-94 take exit 138 for US-127 N/M-50 toward Lansing/Jackson. Keep left at the fork and follow signs for US-127 S/M-50 E/Jackson. Turn left at US-127 and continue onto M-50 E/US-127 BUS S/NW Avenue. Continue onto SW Avenue and at the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto 4th Street.

The course....almost perfect tee to green. I liked everything about this course. The views from a lot of the holes are outstanding!!! The holes are designed brilliantly...I had the opportunity to play 2 rounds there this weekend, and lmost had my first hole in one as well! Probably has colored my judgement on the course, but it you're nearby, make sure and play this course. It was well worth the drive.
