Shadow Creek Golf Course

Edit this info

Shadow Creek is a Steve Wynn, the Mirage/Wynn/Encore development, with the course designed by Tom Fazio in 1989. It plays to around 7,500 yards from the back tees, and while the USGA hasn't formally rated it, based on the level of difficulty, I would say a 130 slope from the regular tees. It's the most expensive golf course you can play, maybe anywhere at north of $500 per round. although the price has come down lately. It used to be much more exclusive, but now if you pay the freight you can play. It's a beautiful course, you hardly know you're in the desert with the amount of mounding and vegetation they've grown in here. Very nice condition, and service was way over the top, but then at these rates it should be. Have played Pebble for similar costs, and Shadow Creek doesn't even come in a close second. Nice layout, Fazio style, but nothing really that spectacular, given the other upscale golf courses here in Vegas. The layout is more parkland style with tree-lined fairways, plenty of water and sand, and some strong risk/reward holes. Fashioned as the top golf course in Las Vegas, most exclusive, and best conditioned, I think it lived up to that, but it was a little too over the top for my tastes.

What makes Shadow Creek so unique is that they built a non-desert course in the desert. If someone brought you to Shadow Creek blind-folded and you had to guess where you were you could easily guess the Pacific Northwest or the Carolina Pines. The course is beautifully laid out and challenging. The mountains in the background create a dramatic backdrop. There are pheasants running loose throughout the course and they are a nice touch, if a bit surreal. The back nine has some really nice holes and water is worked into the design. The creek that runs along the fifteenth fairway somehow makes this one of the most serene holes you will ever play. Flag Content

Insane greens fees!. The greens were pure and you could stick your approach. The fairways are always extremely nice. It is a difficult course but worth the challenge Flag Content
