Sentry World, located in Stevens Point, WI, northwest of Appleton, and is a par 72, 6,951 yards ,149 slope from the tips by Robert Trent Jones Jr. It's a very difficult, yet stunningly beautiful course and surroundings, so beautiful in fact, that you don't mind loosing a lot of balls! The course is parkland style with tree lined fairways, lakes, on lightly rolling terrain, with great landscaping throughout the course. Great golf course and experience, at decent rates.

One of my favorite things about SentryWorld is the staff that you meet out there. SentryWorld has some of the best staff around! Most times, when you first pull into the parking lot, you are greeted by someone from the cart coral. They say, “Welcome to SentryWorld, and we are so glad you could join us today”. The staff member loads your clubs up onto the cart and pulls it up and around for you while you checkout their stunning 5,000 square foot pro shop. SentryWorld “Flower Hole” Showdown The Proshop The pro shop really is a jaw dropper. The pro shop has everything you would ever need along with a great line of SentryWorld apparel. My favorite part of the pro shop is a picture of a young Brett Favre standing on the first tee. After you check in you walk to your cart that is loaded with clean towels, tees, score cards, and tee placement cards. Driving Range & Practice Greens It is then that I would stop by SentryWorld’s amazing practice grounds. SentryWorld’s driving range is elevated, and has an array of greens located out in the fairways at strategic positions. We really enjoy hitting a small bucket at the greens before playing our round. The next stop is one of the most impressive practice greens I have ever putted on. This practice green is a two tier green that has every break and slop that you could imagine. Putting on this green really gets you ready for what you’re going to face on the course. The last stop before your round is at the starts box. The starter greets you and welcomes you to SentryWorld. He then tells you where the pins will be located on your pin card that day. And he wishes you luck! This is when the fun really begins. It’s really all about the details out at SentryWorld that makes the golfing experience wonderful every time you visit them. The Course & The Famous Flower Hole The Flower Hole The golf course is a par 72, and it measures 6,951-yards. The Golf Course has recently been ranked by Golf Digest as the 7th best course in Wisconsin! Some of the most impressive features on the course include, 35 acres of giant spring-fed lakes, trees that tower every fairway, and of course the flowerbeds on the “Flower Hole”. The “Flower Hole” is a 175 yard par 3 that is surrounded by giant flower beds. It is truly a visual spectacle to tee off on this hole and an experience you will never forget. This golf course can also be very challenging. One of the hardest parts about SentryWorld is the strategic placement of the bunkers. Every hole on SentryWorld is literally littered with bunkers! I recommend working on some sand shots out of the practice bunker before playing this course. I will guarantee you that you will be in one of them before your round is over. What makes this course beautiful also makes this course difficult. There’s lots of water, lots of trees, and lots of bunkers. Recommendations I would recommend staying in the fairways as much as possible (pretty standard for any course, lol). The soul reason why I love this course so much is that the course offers you so many risk/reward types of shots. They are a lot of greens on the course that you would love to hit in regulation, but sometimes the best play is just to lay up. Unless you like hitting out of water, trees, and bunkers. SentryWorld has so many things to offer you that you just need to checkout for yourself. SentryWorld has a wonderful restaurant that offers up some really great sandwiches for you to enjoy. Also, if you bring your scorecard in after your round, your first drink is the price of your score. So if you shot an 84, your first drink would cost you $0.84. Like I said before, it’s all about the little things that make SentryWorld a great place to golf and visit. Visit Badliesgolf!

Played for $52 this afternoon on a lovely 75 degree day with brilliant sunshine, a slight breeze, absolutely perfect for a late afternoon at the golf course. The course was in good shape, although the pace of play was poor at almost 5 hours. This has to be one of the better values in golf, you just have to travel to north central Wisconsin to find it. Excellent layout, very challenging in all respects, from the tight fairways, to well guarded and fast greens, but most enjoyable.
