Sea Scape is one of the original courses on the OBX,and was originally designed by Art Wall in 1968, with redesign work by Nicklaus in 1997. They call it a links course, but save a few holes is more parkland with tree lined fairways routed through the dunesland of the Outer Banks. From the back tees it's 6400 yards, 127 slope from the tips, the course is part of a resort residential development, and at times the homes infringe on the course layout, but that's fairly usual in the OBX. If you're not on the fairway, you're in the sandy natural waster area, and with the constant wind here, it's a challenge to keep the ball in play. Nice view throughout the course, except where you're in a corridor of condos or homes. Five par 5's, five par 3's allow for some scoring opportunities, but you'll need accuracy rather than length here. Overpriced for the area and course quality, but if you've played the rest of the courses in the area, a good alternative.

We considered 6 different courses in OBX and decided to Seascape due to the lower rates. The course was in great shape, wide fairways and very soft greens. The front side has 3 par threes and 3 par fives. There are a few sand traps along the way as well as some dog legs. There is not too much water to lose balls in. We ate lunch at the restaurant afterwards. Beer was cold and food was good. It was a pleasurable round and I would play there again and recommend it as well.
