Sandpiper is 27 holes routed through a residential community in Sunset Beach, just across the stateline in North Carolina, about 45 minutes to drive there from the heart of Myrtle Beach. The greens fees peak out in the $80 range, but it will get under $50 in the off-season. 27 holes here, good blend of open and parkland holes with a lot of water and sand throughout, and most of the holes routed through a residential development. The Piper/Bay is the toughest at 72/125, Bay/Sand is next at 71.4/125; the Sand/Piper easiest at 71.4/121. The Sand is 3,100 yards, the Piper is 3,400, and the Bay is 3,450 yards. It was designed by Dan Maples in the 1980's

We played all three nines which were similar in both layout and difficulty. this being said, I found the Piper course the longest (and it is by about 100 yards) because of the the wind that constantly seemed to be in our face. I don't think a hole ever ran next to another. Each hole was like its own little golf course. There was a bit of driving between a few of the holes but that was fine given the benefit of always being by yourself of the course. Lots of water here and some long holes too. The course was in very good condition especially in light of the tough winter the area had. The yardage markings on the course were good and plentiful. My only disappointment was the restaurant, nothing much special there, eat before or after you play outside the course.
