Sandpines is in Florence, a hour north of Bandon, and located a mile from the ocean. It always seems to be breezy here, and the course was designed with that in mind. From the tips, it's 7,190-yards and 136 slope and was designed by Rees Jones in 1993. The routing is over the sand dunes of the area surrounded by stand of pine trees. The course was really well noted when it opened, but has been much overshadowed by what's been going on down in Bandon. There's good elevation change here and the pine forest on the edges, with the course linkstyle open routing in the middle part of the course. The front nine is on the outside of the track and winds in and out of the trees, while the back nine traverses the interior and is more interesting and challenging. It's a fun course, especially when the wind's whipping up, and is worth the drive over from I-5 or up from Bandon.
