San Vicente Golf Club is part of a resort on the southeast side of Ramona, about 30 minutes from downtown San Diego. The course has been around since the early 1970's, and was designed by Ted Robinson. The routing is around the resort hotel, and a residential community, nice setting, the homes don't really intrude all that much on the golf course experience. From downtown, take I-8 east to the San Vicente Fwy, winding up to Ramona, then right on San Vicente Road. Fun course, lots of variety, and fairly challenging. Our group played from the blues at 6,600 yards with a 71.9 course rating and 132 slope, and found it to be a stern test. We stayed there and took advantage of the stay and play deal, which with the discounts on meals is great value, but you don't need to stay there to play the course. The course has a great variety of challenges, no two holes are even vaguely similar. great scenery and lots of fun. Conditioning was excellent, service good, and pace of play tolerable.
