In Hollister, south of San Jose an hour and a half, a nice course, not ever real busy, in a open and rural layout. From the back tees, it's 7,133 yards, with a course rating of 75.6 and a slope of 145, and designed by Fred Couples/Gene Bates, opening in 1996. It's a very nice layout with a good variety to the holes, with good views into the valley. The greens are in great shape and quick, and the clubhouse and facilities are first-rate. The course moves a bit over the land and is surrounded by the hills of the area, a very scenic setting. The layout is mostly open, with a few lakes, sand throughout the fairway landing areas and greenside. It can be a difficult and challenging course depending on the tee you select. The staff is friendly, professional and very helpful. Overall an excellent golf experience.
