The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Ross Bridge is just two miles from the other RTJ course Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham. It can play to 8191 yards, 78.5, 135 if you're out of your mind, but there are five sets of tees. It's a residential development course part of the trail, and like the rest of the courses, is well kept. The course is on rolling land, and features wide, forgiving fairways. There's a number of holes with water, and the bunkers are in your face where you want to land, and are big. Ten holes play through two lakes with a waterfall. The fairways are mostly tree lined, but aren't too tight. The par threes are great with elevation drops and water holes. The greens are generally big, and mildly undulating. A good course if you're in Birmingham, or taking advantage of the Alabama Golf Trail.

It was a challenging but expecially fair layout with beautiful smooth (and very quick) greens. The fairways were not especially wide, but there were acres of rough surrounding all holes, so wayward shots would rarely make it into the woods. I think I enjoyed it more because we played it after a week on bermuda grass greens farther south in Alabama, and the bentgrass sure was a nice change. They play a senior PGA event at Ross Bridge, and it's part of the Robert Trent Jones Trail (although RTJ did not design the course). It's a modern design and has a very large feel to it. It'd be a fun course to play on a regular basis, as it does not beat one up quite as much as some of the other RTJ trail courses!
