Rouges Roost is northeast of Syracuse in Bridgeport, on the south side of Oneida Lake on Route 31. There's 36 holes, the East and the West, the East being the better golf course, the West with lower greens fees. Both are parkland style layouts with tree lined fairways over slightly rolling hills, but walkable. The East layout is a more updated and championship level layout, and opened in the mid-1990's. It was designed by Daryl Johnson and from the tips is 6,700 yards, the White tees are 6,120 yards, 69.2/120. This course is a challenging course that offers a little of everything from long par 5's to tough par 4's, and water in play on most of the holes. The West course is 5,900 yards from the White tees, 67.8/120 ratings, with water in play on half the holes. It's been around since the 1960's, and is just a bit dated from a design standpoint. Very playable, perhaps better for the higher handicapper.
