Exit 133 off I-40, between Statesville and Hickory. Two 18 hole championship courses here, a Robert Trent Jones Jr, and Tom Jackson, with the Jones course the more challenging of the two courses. Both courses are routed over rolling land and tree lined fairways through a housing development. It's semi private and allows outside play, and has accomodations and a spa on the property. Both courses are extremely well maintained with a high level of service. The Jones course at 7100 yards from the back tees is really difficult, be sure to pick the best tees for your level of play, or it won't be enjoyable. The Jackson course is only 6500 yards, but is still challenging. Both courses are routed through the real estate development on land with nice elevation change, plenty of trees, some water, and well bunkered. Not all of the holes are bordered by housing, there's a stretch where the holes are in complete isolation, but where homes will probably be built in the future. Nice variety in the courses, and well maintained.

Played yesterday for a $49 rate, a real bargain considering the weekend rates here. The course was in OK shape, it seemed to be drying out a bit with all the heat we've been having. P,layed the Jones course, and just loved the layout, and hope to return in the spring before rates head north.

If you're in the fairway, you really never have a bad lie. Greens were in fine shape, and the rough was thankfully not as penal as some others we've played this year. This is a different and very challenging track that we enjoy playing every year. Your performance off the tee will more than likely determine how well you play this course and, therefore, how much you enjoy it.
