The course was designed by Robert Muir Graves, plays to 6,683 yards, 72.4/137 from the blue tees. It's part of the Riverhouse Hotel, right in the middle of Bend, but it's not required to stay there to play the golf course. The course is a tough one, routed through a good amount of hills and along the Deschutes River with great views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Jefferson. The course is over on the northeast ridge of Awbrey Butte, and is mostly tree lined and sloping and hilly fairways, difficult to find a flat lie. There's a number of elevated tees and greens, and the course is impossible to walk comfortably. You only get a couple of glimpses of the Deschutes River, and it doesn't come into play but there are a number of small ponds that can come into play, bunkers are plentiful, along with rock outcroppings along the fairways. The greens are well maintained, fast, and don't hold well due to their elevated nature. The course gets a little easier with playing it more to understand the routing and the affect of the hills, but it's probably not going to be a course the higher handicapper would enjoy all that much.
