The course is north of Myrtle Beach in Shallote, NC, was designed by Arnold Palmer, is not all that long at 6900 yards and 149 slope from the back tees, but is very challenging in a beautiful and isolated setting away from the Myrtle Beach crowd. It's routed along the Shallotte River and the marshland surrounding it with six of the holes up on bluffs that overlook the marshlands with the holes running back into the property more classic parkland style with some elevation change. The course is always a pleasure to drive up to from Myrtle, well maintained, and if you're flexible on your tee times, the rates can be lower. Visually a beautiful course and setting.

Thought it was an interesting, yet challenging layout with all the water and wetlands in play. Condition was excellent, private club feel to the course and the clubhouse/facilities, and reasonable rates compared to the other more upscale courses we played in the area. Very scenic along the river for a few holes.

Thrilling golf course to play, what you would expect from the King. Seven holes are along the marsh of the Shallotte River, with the 9th a great finish to the front nine, jutting out into the marsh along a ravine. The par 3 15th is a heroic par three all carry over marsh, much more target golf than open and inviting fairways. Greens were in great shape this hear, can't wait to play the course again later this summer.

Great course layout and shot values along the Shallotte River, with the back side more challenging than the front side, lots of forced carries over the marsh, target style greens, fair off the tee. Excellent shape and rates for this time of year.
