Rivercut is on the southwest side of Springfield, along the James River off Nicholas Road to the west. The course is a muni, but not your typical muni, very challenging, long, with a private club feel to it. It is routed around a residential real estate development, sort of a combination links and parkland style of layout. It was designed by Ken Dye in the late 1990's, and from the back tees will play to just over 7,000 yards with 4 sets of tees. Our group plays from the whites, which is manageable at 6,000 yards, 69.6/119. The course has tree-lined meadows, rolling hills and water in play on six holes. The greens are good sized with a fair amount of undulation, and plenty of traps, both greenside and around the landing zones. Very well conditioned course, rates are a little steep, but they do have off peak greens fees.
