RiverCrest is on the north side of Hickory, north of Lake Hickory, routed through an upscale residential development. The golf course opened in the mid-1990's as part of the real estate development, and was designed by Karl Little. It has four sets of tees from 4,700 yards to 6,700 yards, our group of 12 handicappers plays from the back tees at 6,473 yards, with a 69.0 course rating and 125 slope. Fun and challenging course to play, scenic, but seems like they could have incorporated more of Lake Hickory into the layout. Mostly open off the tee, although errant shots that leak into the deep woods are likely lost balls. The routing is mostly natural corridors, even along the homes with the trees blocking them for the most part. Greens are always in excellent shape and fast, the fairways, there's nary a flat lie on the course with the sloping and hilly layout.
