River Ridge is west of Houston in Sealy, just off I-10. and is a semi private course, worth the drive. It opened for play in late 1998, is a parkland style of course with 3 nine hole courses, Parkland, River, and the Ridge. Yardages: River par 35, 3330 yards (back tees); Parkland par 36, 3616 yards; Ridge par 36, 3585 yards. It's fair, yet is challenging, but doesn't beat up on you, mostly straightforward holes, nothing tricky. There's a good amount of change in elevation on the course down to the Brazos River bank, and some elevated tees, and raised greens. The course was designed by Jay Riviere with long, narrow greens and doglegs. It's 320 acres of natural terrain, and several holes on the Brazos River. The Parkland Course IMHO is the toughest of the three, and the River a little better than the Ridge. The Parkland require more accuracy, and you're better off with a 3 or 5 wood than driver, but the Ridge opens up a bit. It doesn't have a lot of water, but the rough can be severe. All three nines start with a par 5, and the closing holes are very strong.

Very enjoyable golf course, no homes lining the course, just pure golf. Each hole was unique and isolated, and on each nine you start off with a hole where you have a chance for par, just kind of gets the confidence going in the right direction. We played all 27 holes, and especially enjoyed the Ridge course. The fairways hadn't grown in all that well from the winter, but the greens were great, fast and just a little undulation. Beats playing Horseshoe Bay at twice the cost Flag Content
