River Ridge is in a housing development on the southeast side of Raleigh, off I-40 at Jones Sausage, exit 303, then north to Rock Quarry, then east. Great layout, nice variety of hole design, water in play on over half the holes, fairways are wide enough and rolling with some tree lined, and some more open. One of the better values in the area, greens are usually some of the best in town, although tough to read. The Neuse and the Challenge, are better courses in the area, but their rates are higher. Would always recommend playing here, can't go wrong. From the back tees it's 6700 yards, 138 slope and 72.2 course rating, and was designed by Chuck Smith in the late 1990's.

Considering the amount of rain overnight and through the early morning, the course was in great shape. Fairways and rough were dry and well kept, and the only sign that there was any rain were the slow greens. Course backs up through the first 3 holes, but beyond that plays pretty quickly especially on the back
