The Ritz Carlton Golf Club is located about 20 minutes from the hotel, out on the east side of Sarasota/Bradenton, off I-75 at SR 70. The course is a Tom Fazio design of 7,400 yards from the tips, 75.6 course rating and a 133 slope, but with 5 shorter sets of tees. First class service as you would expect from the Ritz, pristine conditions, and a very classy clubhouse. Nothing but golf here, no housing or development surrounding the course, only an Audubon Sanctuary type setting. The golf course would appeal to all levels of play depending on the tee box you pick. and has a great practice facility and academy. The layout has some unusual elevation change, you can tell they moved in a lot of soil to create the course. There's water and/or wetlands throughout, and an abundance of sand. The course is well landscaped throughout, and is really walkable, unless you're playing in the summer heat. Big greens with a moderate amount of undulation, and speed. Excellent experience, have played the other top courses in the area, and this tops them all by far.

I had the chance to play the Ritz Carlton Members course in Sarasota today. What a beautiful golf course. Its really unlike the majority of courses in the SW Florida region. Soft rolling hills with 30 to 40 foot elevation changes on some holes. The greens were quick for Florida and ran about 11 to 12 on the stimp. Which I was told is somewhat slower than normal. But when the majority of the courses I play in the area are running about 9 or 10 it was welcome. The staff was very courteous and with a 144 person shot gun start it moved very well. My foursome started on the par 3 16th, so after finishing on the 15th we replayed the remaining holes in. I have attached a couple of pictures. If you get a chance this is a great golf course to play.

The Ritz Members Club was one of the better maintained courses we played in the area. Lots of elevation changes and very unique vegetation. Caddies are required and cost $30. They are well worth it. They will club you if you want but if you tell them how far you hit your clubs they can tell you where to aim. I would definitely recommend this course if you have the chance. The only course I would rate higher in the area is The Concession, which is private and tough to get on.

First class resort style golf all the way. Always love playing a Tom Fazio designed course and this is no exception. Challenging layout to say the least, but fair off the tee, helps to have played it before, although it's fairly straightforward. Very expensive, doubt I will play here again, unless it's on the company's dime.
