Rend Lake is south of Mt Vernon on the west side of I-57 at exit 77, on the east side of Rend Lake, and is a great parkland style course designed by Larry Packard in 1976 with a third nine done in 1994. Five sets of tees, the East nine is longest at 3419 yards, the South is 3442, and the West is 3393, with a 130-133 slope depending on the combination played. Good sized greens, water in play on 10 of the 27 holes, tree lined fairways with Zoysia grass, the best to hit a crisp iron shot from. One of the better courses in southern Illinois, along with Kokopelli.
