Red Tail is a golf course factory, and gets a tremendous amount of play. It's located south of Portland in Beaverton, off the Beaverton/Tigard Freeway at Hall. In addition to a great golf course, there's a full blown practice center with covered stations, and a large pro shop/retail store..one of the best in town. It's an older course and used to be known as Progress Downs. It's been updated by John Zoller and plays to 7100 yards, 136 slope, 74.1 course rating from the tips, but has 4 other sets of tees. It's all you want in a course with plenty of challenge, water, rolling hills, tree lined fairways, and some of the toughest greens in town to score on. All very well conditioned, rates decent, and a well managed facility.

RedTail's a muni golf machine, but it gets a lot of play because the rates are cheap, and the course is well maintained and a good challenge. Greens were excellent, fast with a moderate amount of undulation. Shot maker's type of layout where accuracy is rewarded above length. Tough layout, a 136 slope from the tips, a couple of quirky holes, including a par 6, but woth a play if you're in town looking for a good challenge and are value oriented.
