Reddish Vale is a green space, comprising woodland, flat riverside meadows, sloping fields used to graze horses, and a golf course 5 miles from Manchester, England. The course was designed by Alister Mackenzie in 1912, of Augusta National and Cypress Point fame in the U.S. It's a parkland style course that is routed around the River Tame as it flows through seven of the holes. The fairways are bordered by mature trees, and the terrain is rolling with an elevation change of over 100 feet. A beguiling and fantastically challenging layout and setting, in a not so great neighborhood. A gem which hasn't hit the radar screens of our overseas visitors.

Interesting course, conditions weren't all that great on the time we played. Tricky, maybe even quirky course, I found some of the holes somewhat ridiculous, but maybe after playing a few times would get over that feeling. A real challenge for the length and par, The only hole that didn't do it for me was the last. You have to play long iron or hybrid off the tee or you run out of fairway, the up the hill to the green. A tough, if not unsual finisher, which seemed not to fit the rest of the course design.
