Red Tail is in the western suburbs of Chicago near Crystal Lake. 6803 yards, 130 slope, 72.8 course rating from the back tees, with three other sets of tee boxes. The course was designed by Roger Packard, nice routing through lakes and wetlands, challenging course, very well conditioned, worth the drive out of town to play, rates are a little expensive, off-peak rates are available. Development course with some houses bordering the fairway, used to be called Lakewood. Bentgrass from tee to green, nice natural setting with mostly wide open fairways, mounded and contoured with a couple of island greens. Would definitely play over and over.
