Red Hawk Ridge is a muni, run by the town of Castle Rock. It was designed by Jim Engh and opened in 1999, and plays to 6872 yards, 132 slope from the back tees. If you can't get on Castle Pines, this is a great alternative with upscale golf course service and conditions, and some great views. The front 9 is a warm up for the back with wider fairways and greens, and more straightforward with the hole routing. The back nine isn’t long but calls for more accuracy and length off the tee. The back nine also offers up 3 par 5’s, most reachable. Red Hawk is perpetually busy during the peak golf season, and most low handicappers consider this course a pushover, but for the average 6 pack Joe, it's an opportunity to score well, with good conditions, in a scenic setting.
