The Raven at Verrado is a desert course designed by John Fought and Tom Lehman on the west side of Phoenix in Buckeye, exit Verrado Road/Exit 120, then north a couple of miles. It's routed through a residential development, at the base of the White Tank Mountains. The course has a routing which rolls through the desert at different elevations with nice views of the city and the surrounding mountains. The greens were firm, fast and rolled very true. Landing areas for the tee shots were pretty large and the approach shots and greens were very challenging. The course layout required many different shots, was interesting to play, back side was much better than the front. It was an overall good test, heavy bunkering but with chances to score and a few memorable and scenic holes. It wasn't of the level of Troon or We-Ko-Pa, but right up there, and at a reasonable rate.
