The Raven at Three Peaks is in Silverthorne, just a few minutes from Copper Mountain, in a fantastic setting and is just a great mountain golf course. From the back tees, it's 7400 yards with a 136 slope, and the scenery with the Gore Mountain Range in the background is stunning. It was designed by Hurzdan / Fry and Tom Lehman, All the holes are named after old mines or mining claims in the area and there's a lot of wildlife especially in the late afternoon. We've seen osprey and deer, and hear there's been elk and moose. The routing has a good amount of elevation change to it with elevated tees, greens raised, or in small coves, a number of holes play through the pine and aspen groves, and are bordered by wetlands and trout streams. It's just a great golf experience throughout, very well conditioned, with excellent service.

The Raven is a lot of fun, and quite challenging, we played about a month ago before the end of the season. The back 9 really gets it going as things get really good on #11 and strong holes continue all the way to the finishing 18. The Black tees play 7400 yards, but the course is at over 8000 feet so the ball really flies up there. The #9 par 4 is 519 yards but actually plays medium length as it's a big drop down---I think the longest club I hit into the hole was a 7 iron (from about 195 yards). This was the first Lehman designed course I've played, and I feel it was very good golf architecture.

Played on a beautiful day yesterday, that turned violent on the 12th hole for about three holes. Started out it had to be 85 degrees, at the turn a storm blew through the mountains, and dropped the temps to the mid-50's, 40 mph wind, and rain, then at 14 it was all quite again, albeit a little cooler. Had played Breckenridge, the River course at Keystone, and Three Peaks on a weeks vacation here, and we thought Three Peaks was probably the top course. The first half dozen holes are a good warm-up to the tougher holes with elevation change, some very good drops. Nice views out over the valley, the Gore's and the 10 mile range, but not as good as the views from Breckenridge. The course was in great shape, greens rolling well, but b eware of the Bbuffalo grass lining the fairways, you generally won't find your ball, or anyone else's! Played like a dog for the most part, save for a few good holes, but enjoyed the views, and the weather's effect on our game.

Played the 2 for 1 coupon here, perfect lush fairways, pines and aspen surrounded by trout-filled lakes, challenging, but it was very playable. We saw plenty of wildlife including eagles, osprey, moose and elk, and wonderful views throughout the course.
