Totally private club and gated community, but they do have accomodations there, and you're able to play the the Nicklaus designed course, while the Fazio is strictly private. The setting is high desert-like near Mt Bachelor, between Redmond and Bend. It's a typical risk/reward Nicklaus layout, fair off the tee, linkstyle through the desert scrub and brush, and in pristine condition. Juniper tree lined fairways, 3200 feet in elevation, stunning views out over the surrounding mountain ranges, the course can play as long at 7400 yards, or as short as 5300. A treat to stay here, and play the course, very upscale clubhouse and "developing" community.

Played the Nicklaus course and the Fazio. The Nicklaus was just too narrow off the tee for our group, and we're all 12 handicaps or so. Some very interesting and creative holes, and beautiful views, just too close to the sage brush and scrub to enjoy. We stayed in Bend which is a great town to base. Also played Tetherow, had a couple of great caddies and enjoyed that more than the two at Pronghorn.

Thank goodness for the bad economy for the lowly public golfers. We played this golf club, which used to be exclusively private, by staying at the Budget Inn in Bend. Didn't get to play the Fazio, which is still private, but did play the Nicklaus course. Very well maintained golf course, good variety of tee box selections from 5,200 to 7,300 yards. Kind of desert style of layout, beautiful setting, fair, and at the same time very challenging, especially on approach to the greens. Probably not a good course for the higher handicappers. It was an expensive round, once you pay for the required forecaddie, tip, and golf it's over $225! Very exclusive club and feel, you won't be disappointed with the golf.
