Prairie West Golf Course is on the west side of Bismarck, off I-94 at Memorial Highway then west. It's one of the better golf courses in the area, an open links-style of course with a moderate amount of bunkering, three lakes bringing water in play on half the holes. It was designed by Leo Johnson in the early 1990s, and from the tips plays to 6,681 yards with a 71.6 course rating and a 127 slope. Challenging course to play, especially with the wind, which always seems to be blowing in Bismarck. Reasonably priced muni, but gets crowded on the weekends.

Course is in excellent condition after the weather this summer, and is an excellent value also. Greens were relatively fast and true. Traps were the best tendid I have seen anywhere this year. Tees were a little beat up, but playable. Snack bar was OK, but nothing special.
