Poston Butte is a rather new course in the Valley of Phoenix, it's southeast of town, about 30 minutes southeast of Chandler. The course was designed by Gary Panks, par 72, with 5 sets of tees ranging from 5,300 yards - 7,300 yards, 74.8/127 from the tips. The course is part of a residential development that hasn't taken off well, and likely won't for some time, the rates to play here are reasonable, and it's a fun course to play, even though it's still a little rough. It's a desert style of layout with a moderate amount of bunkers, some water comes into play, and their signature hole is an island green. Conditions are generally good, guest service was excellent, it's run by Troon golf, one of the better golf course managers. There's some forced carries, long from the back tees, the desert scrub is always in play, and mostly playable out of it. It's a good solid layout, that's a bargain from the other higher profiles Phoenix/Scottsdale courses, just a bit of a drive to get out there.
