Poplar Creek is a par 70 muni located on San Francisco Bay, about five miles south of the San Francisco Airport, off Highway 101 in San Mateo. The golf course has been around for years, but was updated and redesigned in 2000. The fairways have a little movement to them, but it's generally level, parkland style of layout, straightforward back and forth holes, good sized greens, and a fair amount of bunkers. It was redesigned by Steve Halsey, and is short at just over 6,000 yards, 70.1/117 ratings from the black tees. Fairly well maintained for a muni, but it can be agonizingly slow. Wind generally picks up in the afternoon off the Bay and adds some challenge to a generally tame layout.
