Ponte Vedra Inn Golf Club

Ponte Vedra Inn and Golf Club is located on the Atlantic in Ponte Vedra Beach, just south of Jacksonville Beach at the east end of JT Butler. It's a classic old Florida beach resort with two hotels, the Lodge and the Ponte Vedra Club, and two 18 hole championship golf courses, the Ocean and the Lagoon. The Ocean course is 6,871 yards, 138 slope and 73.3 course rating. It opened in the 1920's and was designed by Herbert B. Strong. The course is classic Florida resort golf, with water and sand, Mostly roomy off the tee, the approaches to the greens are the coure's main defense. The Lagoon course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr in the early 60's with redesign work by Joe Lee. It's a much shorter course at 6,000 yards, par 70 with water in play on 11 holes, well bunkered parkland style of course with tight landing areas. Expensive to stay here, the course's are well maintained, but there's much better challenge right down the road at the TPC Sawgrass.
