Two 18 hole courses here, with the Blue being the stronger of the two, and $10 more expensive. From the back tees, the Blue course plays to 7,214 yards and a 138 slope. Tough and challenging course with a variety of long holes. It was designed by two Penn State graduates, James Harrison and Ferdinand Garbin in 1970. The White course was the original one here, built in 1921 by Willie Park, Jr., winner of two British Opens in the late 1800's. It's a classic parkland style of course with tight tree lined fairways, and small push up greens, playing to a much shorter 6344 yards from the back tees, 130 slope. Golf first started at PSU with a 4 hole routing near where Pollock Hall is situated, and a nine hole course was designed and built by a couple of professors in 1915, until Park was hire to complete an 18 hole layout. Both the White and Blue courses are intermingled with holes from their respective original routing's, but after all the design modifications over the years, it's tough to tell the older holes. Both good solid courses, great setting and views, and well conditioned.
