Pedernales is the golf course owned by Willie Nelson, it's about 30 minutes from Austin, head West on Texas Hwy 71 about 18 miles past Bee Cave. The course is routed over the Hill Country terrain, and is just a nine holer with water on two holes, and only 20 or so bunkers. Conditions are better than they used to be. It's not upscale golf by any means, you're hear for the experience, and maybe the chance to spot Willie, who's hear at his recording studios or playing golf ocassionally. The course was designed by Frank Howard in 1968 and Willie purchased it in 1979.
Here's the rules if you're going to play there:

When another player is shooting, no player should talk, whistle, hum, clink coins, or pass gas.
Don’t play until the group in front is out of the way.
Excessive displays of affection are discouraged. Violators must replace divots and will be penalized five strokes.
Replace divots, smooth footprints in bunkers, brush backtrail with branches, park car under brush, and have the office tell your spouse you’re in a conference.
Let faster groups play through.
On the putting green, don’t step on another’s line.
“Freebies” are not recommended for players with short putts.

The course has good elevation change, tree lined fairways, and is really fun to play, and has great views of the Hill Country. There's nothing in the way of a clubhouse or pro shop of any sorts, and no food service, but they say that Poodies Hilltop on Hwy 71 nearby has great burgers.

Willie Nelson's Pedernales Golf Club is one of the best Texas nine hole courses, if for no other reasons than its central location and friendly clientele. One of he rules state: "No more than twelve in your foursome." Such large groups are called a gang-some. The rule from the first tee is "Hit till your happy." The course is always open to the public. Facing an unplayable lie, you just pick up the ball and stroll to a spot you like better. It may not be legal on your USGA handicap but it beats ruining a club on the rocks. A trip to play, and once in a while they say Willie's around, although haven't seem him.

I love coming back to this course, it's a riot to play here. The turf conditions are excellent, and the course is very playable. The greens are challenging to read and putt. The staff is always pleasant, and the fee is very reasonable.
