Designed by Billy Bell, played the LPGA event here in 2009 for the first time. Completely restored in 2008, by Billy Fuller, the course has new irrigation, new greens with mini-Verde grass, restored bunkers to original design, but keeping the greens fees reasonable, one of the better values in the area. It's owned and operated by the City of Phoenix, and is located on McDowell Road, just west of Scottsdale Road. An old classic course, now back to its original shape and quality, and good enough for the LPGA, playing to 7300 yards from the tips, more of a desert parkland style of course, easy to walk, treed fairways, but not heavy, lakes come into play, and with the bunker restoration, they are now really a threat. The greens are on the large side, beautiful surface and conditioning. Just hope the city can keep it in great shape.
