Palos Verde is private on the weekends, but open to the public the rest of the week. Just a challenging and scenic layout with views out over the Pacific and Catalina Island. It's located in Palos Verdes off Hawthorne at Palos Verde Drive, about 20 minutes from LAX. If you're a resident of Palos Verdes it's a fair price, if you're from out of town, it's almost as expensive as Trump National. If you really want to play the course, it's best to be a guest of a member. The course is a vintage William Bell and George Thomas parkland style of course from 1927 of 6219 yards from the Blue tees 122 slope. The front side is a warm up for the tougher and tighter back side, small greens of kikuyu, well guarded by bunkers. Hilly, tree lined, nice views of the Pacific, overall very well done, a treat to play.

Played Palos Verdes this week, great course, but if you're gonna spend that kind of money, maybe not the place to do it. Conditions are great and all, but I just never thought it was worth that kind of dough, but if that doesn't matter that's definitely my #3 for the L.A. area. Ocean views from approx. 10 holes and a great design.

Played as a unaccompanied guest, and the greens fees were stiff, but still not as bad as Trump National down the street. Nice private club feel to the course and clubhouse, was treated like royalty, and invited to play with one of the members who needed a game. The golf course was tough, tight fairways, small and fast greens, all in great shape. The back side really toughens up considerable, especially with the wind.
