Palm Valley is on the west side of Phoenix in Goodyear, off the I-10 at Litchfield, then north. There's two courses, one a fully championship layout by Arthur Hills, the second more of an executive style layout by Hale Irwin, and both are routed through a tightly packed residential community. The Palms Course has four sets of tees from 5,300 yards to 7,000 yards, we played from the regular tees at 6,160 yards, with a 69.0 course rating and a 123 slope. It's a flat layout with water in play on just one hole, very forgiving off the tee, more of a fair, resort style of course, where off the fairways is hard packed sand. The Lakes Course is a good course to work on your short game, only 4,700 yards from the tips with a par of 62, 103 slope, and 66.0 course rating. The better golfers will find either course a little boring, but it's a good layout for the average golfer looking to play in the Phoenix area on a budget.
