Pala Mesa is north of San Diego, off the Escondido Freeway at exit 46, on the west side. There’s a resort here, as well as a golf course, and is a good place to base if you’re here for the vineyards at Temecula, and golf in the general area. The course is a 6,500 yard, 128 slope, William Johnson design from the early 1960’s. The course is a tight, tree lined, and hilly layout routed through a canyon and a residential development, and for my game is more challenging than the 128 slope. Nice old style of course, kept in good condition, definitely a shotmaker’s course.

We loved this course, great value, excellent layout, bent grass tees, greens & fairways in excellent shape. Highly recommended and will play again.
