The Wolf course is newest of the courses here, all designed by Pete Dye. This one is 7,604 from the tips, the longest course in Nevada. The course is fairly flat with moderate mounding and fairway undulations, a few holes with water including an island green, 182 yard par three. The course is routed through the desert, but not a desert target course. There's plenty of room on the fairways which are framed by native grasses and wildflowers. The greens tend to be large and well guarded by deep, large bunkers, as well as false fronts, and raised approaches. You can't go wrong with any of the courses out here, nice remote type setting about 40 minutes from the Strip.

They have 3 tracks to choose from and are usually wide open. I liked the Wolf course cause its super long and bunch of risk reward shots to test your skills. Course was in good shape, got a deal to play at $100-all day.

Spent two days at Paiute and really enjoyed it. Played Sun and Snow and the day I was supposed to play Wolf as my second 18, the weather was brutal and there was a mix up on the tee times. Really enjoyed the solitude of the distance from the strip, and the drive was a snap. Designs were quite enjoyable, which is saying something since I was a single digit playing with guys in the 100s. We all enjoyed it.

As far as bang for the buck, I would have to search long and hard to find courses as nice as Paiute. Actually, I may have to search long and hard just to find one in Vegas I like as well. When I go to Vegas, and for the price it will likely be the only 3 I will play. I believe the Wolf is supposed to be the best, we played Snow Mountain. Paiute has 3 Peter Dye courses, and at around $100 (at the time), and depending on the time and season it is probably a third of the price of some of the nicer courses in Vegas. It is actually one of the top 3 places I have ever played. It is about 45 minutes off the strip, so if you don't have a rental car it may be out of the question. It is also quite a bit cooler and windier than the strip because of lack of surrounding concrete. So you may want to take a windshirt or dress for it to be about 10-20 degrees cooler.
