Painted Hills is west of downtown Kansas City at Parallel Parkway and College Parkway across from the Kansas City Community College. It's a short, parkland style of course, 5,884 yards from the back tees, 67.7/119 ratings, reasonably priced, gets a lot of play, and is slow. This course can be very challenging due to the tree-lined rolling fairways with not much in the way of a level lie, and the tight fairways will have you punching out of the trees a lot. The course conditions have improved considerably over the years, especially the greens. There's always deals to be had for rates here, check their website, sign up for their email, or join their Eagle Club. The 10th, 12th holes can be a little challenging because you are teeing off right next to Parallel St. Their carts are a little old and need updating, but they get around, the clubhouse facilities are a little dated, and there isn't a driving range to warm up on, otherwise a good solid basic course to play. .

Closed for renovations and redesign, supposed to open in 2013, great course and layout, hopefully being made better!

Stunning course in very good condition. Played on a Monday morning in beautiful weather and found the course to be visually beautiful with challenges on almost every hole. Many of the fairways leave awkward lies for second shots. Most of the holes require thinking in the tee box to set up your second shot - definitely not a grip it and rip it course. The only draw back is the high cost to play (I won a foursome, so the round was free) - not sure many people can afford to play here. But if you can, it is definitely worth it!
