Olde Scotland Links is a bit of a misnomer as there are no trees on true Scottish links, and links courses are located on sandy soil adjoining an ocean. Other than those preambles, the course is a great layout and a good challenge. It is located 20 miles south of Boston, and was designed by Brian Silva in 1977. The course measures 6790 from the tips with a 72.6 handicap, and 126. The links features, like being able to run the ball to the green, have the option of putting or chipping from off the green, and large green complexes are in form here, and provide some forgiveness. There's water on 6 holes, and 75 bunkers throughout the course. It's rated as a good upscale daily fee in the greater Boston area.

Nice condition for a muni, soft fairways, tricky pin placements, large undulating greens and lots of wind. Tough course if you don't keep it in the fairways, on the short side, but found it to be unforgiving of my game. There are plenty of fairway bunkers and tall grasses lining the fairways, and some wetlands to navigate. Had a good time, the pace of play was over 5 hours, my only complaint, nice change of pace, and interesting holes.

All in all a fun and somewhat challenging course to play, reasonably good condition, but slow pace of play. The lack of a clubhouse really hurts the 19th hole atmosphere but rumor has it the town will be breaking ground on a new clubhouse in the coming months If you’re looking for a reasonably priced and enjoyable course on the South Shore, give it a shot. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
