Take a day off from the fancy Bandon courses and give your wallet a break at Old Bandon Golf Links. It's a little 9 holer of 2000 yards, will take you an hour and a half to play it. It was most recently known as Bandon Face Rock, which closed and back open now. It was designed by Lee Smith in the 1920's, known then as Westmost Golf Club and nothing's much changed, it's still the western most golf course in the U.S. Small greens, hardly any bunkering, water on 7 holes, and some trees with a view of the Pacific. It's just 15 south of Bandon Dunes on the way to Bandon Crossing right next to the Best Western. You won't shoot your handicap here, guaranteed. They also offer the opportunity to play with hickory clubs and gutta percha balls, which was really interesting and a as a golfer you must experience. There's five Par-4's and four Par-3's, this course was designed for the 150 or 160 yard drive, yet remains challenging and fun with a 31.5 course rating and 116 slope. There's no driving range, the nearest is Bandon Crossings, which is 5 miles south.

Playing the course was a trip, especially after playing all the Bandon courses. Just a little nine holer they recently re-opned, a little rough, but the greens fees were nothing compared to Bandon. Fun course, very challenging, but a nice break. Would imagine the conditions would be improved next year.
