Old American Golf Club

The Old American golf course is on the north side of Dallas in The Colony and is a sister course to the Tribute, about 1/2 mile away. As opposed to The Tribute, which mimics Scottish courses, it's a tribute of classic American golf courses designed by the early master architects like Ross, McDonald, Maxwell, Toomey & Flynn, etc. It's a challenging layout, feeling links style for the most part with natural contours, a variety of bunker styles, and tall fescue lining the fairways. The unusual provision here which found as odd was that all bunkers are to be played as waste bunkers, so they truly are hazards. ,It was designed by Tripp Davis and Justin Leonard, and plays to a par 71, and 7,200 yards from the tips, although I'd suggest playing it shorter than you usually play, especially the first time out. It's a scenic routing around Lake Lewisville, and without any natural barriers, the wind's usually whipping up here. Fair layout off the tee, Lot's of risk/reward shots, excellent conditions, just expensive to play here.
